James C. "Jay" Jarrell, son of the late
J. H. Jarrell and Evelyn Hutchcraft
Jarrell, was born on April 22, 1928, in
Dudley and died on Nov. 10, 2015, at the
SoutheastHEALTH Center in Cape Girardeau
at the age of 87.
Mr. Jarrell was a member of the First United
Methodist Church of Dexter and he and his
wife were owners of Jay's Music Company in
Dexter for many years. He was a veteran of
the United States Air Force and a resident
of Dexter.On Oct. 6, 1947, he was united in
marriage to Alice Hall in Piggott, Ark.
Mrs. Jarrell survives of their home.In
addition to his wife, he is survived by two
sons, Jerry Jarrell and wife, Vicky and
Denny Jarrell and wife, Paula, all of
Dexter; two brothers, T. L. Jarrell and Dean
Jarrell, both of Dudley; four sisters,
Dorothy Kinworthy of Dexter, Melba Dewrock
of Cape Girardeau, Louise Abbott of Dudley
and Janice Patterson also of Dexter; four
grandchildren, Julie Jarrell Welker, Molly
Jarrell Miller, Alison Jarrell and Jason
Jarrell and three great-grandchildren, Henry
Welker, Lucy Miller and Bode Welker.
Visitation will be held at the Rainey-Mathis
Funeral Home in Dexter on Friday, Nov. 13,
2015, from 9 a.m to 11 a.m. Funeral services
will follow in the Rainey-Mathis Funeral
Chapel at 11 a.m. with Dr. Barry Winders
officiating. Interment will follow in the
